From a marketing perspective, should Ford focus on innovation or environment?

Currently Ford's marketing strategy has focused on innovative technology that they have implemented in the production of their vehicles. With the current global conditions, I believe they should start focusing in on the environment. But with only 1 Hybrid vehicle (Escape) they need to do better. They are introducing the EcoBoost (turbo-charge) engines in their 2009 Lincoln MKS and Ford Flex models, and say "other" vehicles, but have not defined that market yet. The only indicate by 2013 they will place these engines in 500,000 vehicles annually. The EcoBoost will deliver approximately 20% better fuel economy, 15% fewer CO2 emissions, and will be less expensive than the hybrid and diesel options. I think they need to bring this to market sooner, if it is proven the savings they are indicating.

I think more people are trying to save the enviroment now more than ever. More people are getting hybrid vehicles or using othermodes of transportation. For Ford to continue to make a profit,I think they need to focus onthe enviroment, also.

I think that right now people are starting to care more about the environment than ever. Especially with high gas prices, people want greener, more efficient cars rather than new technology.

I agree with Donna, 2013 goes against the grain of the "The Way Forward" plan developed by President Fields in 2005, using the GPDS (Global Product Development System). Perhaps if their deal to lease Toyota's alternative fuel goes through they can reduce this turnaround time, but I believe its vital, and in addition appeals to both those seeking innovation and those who are environmentally conscious.

In my opinion I think ford should focus more on environmental because these days its all about protecting the environment. And people are looking for cars that are more fuel efficent and better to the environment. so they would probably get more service that way.

I believe they should focus on innovation. with innovation, the rest will follow. That is what made so many American companies great, the lead the world in innovation, and with innovation will come technologies that will bring greener, more fuel efficient cars.

I think Ford needs to focus more on the environment, to be competitive they need to have more than 1 bare bones Escape Hybrid to offer consumers. I don't know if Found on the Road Dead will ever be competitive in the Hybrid market. The competition is way ahead of them.

jeremy erickson/ We have always been surprised with the technological advances, that as consumers we are left with multi-million choices to scroll through. I think both strategies will help the ford motors companies to once again reach above water, and regain a strong influence to finally compete with the mass production of vehicles world wide. Innovation is a must, hybrids, save fuel on their big trucks, and bring forth a line of hybrid vehicles that will simply show that ford cares about saving the planet. Let's stop with introducing and start producing, the demand for a more efficent vehicle is what people want.
